We all like to escape from our lives once a year and get out and see the world, take our family camping, or travel across the country on a vacation to clear our minds and spirits. But no matter how beneficial a great vacation may be to us personally, we may not always be able to get away in the fashion we would really like. The constraints of our pocketbook tend to keep us more realistic in what we are actually able to do.

If you are planning a vacation this year but are on a budget, don’t let that stop you from getting away and having a good time. Some vacation budgeting advice can save you from staying at home and allow you to take your family with you for a retreat of some sort this year.

One easy way to vacation is to not leave home at all. Simply unplug your phone and make fun plans you can do from your house or around town. Go see a movie and visit local sites and museums. Go on a picnic or have a barbecue.

Another great piece of advice is to contact local or more distant locations for information about towns. If you’re going to Canada, you can visit Canada 411 to get information about things happening on a local level that don’t cost too much but can be great fun for the family.

There are also package deals you can check on where many of the aspects of a fun vacation are paid for, along with your accommodations. That could be a less expensive alternative.

No matter what your budget is there is no excuse not to take some time off and have a great experience with your family before returning to work for another year.

RV Life

Motor homes can become a way of life. It takes a certain mindset and stamina to make it work. It can provide a free wheeling lifestyle that is hard to beat. When you get tired of a location, simply putting the key in the ignition lets you mosey on to greener or more fun pastures.

All the paperwork needs to be taken care of first. The best thing to do is to get a motor home insurance quote. Motor homes are vehicles and have to be insured against the usual theft, collision, and liability issues ever present in our daily lives. Yearning for the open road is just that, yearning. Living on the open road is a whole other matter. RV living may be the right living for you. The best thing to do is to rent a motor home and try it out. Renting is easy, provides a great vacation, and lets you try out the life and work out any bugs. So find enough time to stay on the road for one month. It will tell you all you need to know and if you and your significant other can stand the togetherness on the open road.

Next is accumulating enough capital to make it work. Motor homes are fun, but there is a cost. Make sure you have enough capital to cover maintence of the vehicle and are able to fully let go of your old life. It is a fun, enjoyable way to live once you make the transition. You will need to plan. Since home is no longer in one spot, knowing when and where to go becomes a priority.

Renting a Condo Instead of a Hotel Room

If you are planning on staying one area and taking day trips to explore the surrounding areas, consider renting a house, apartment, or condo instead of a hotel room. You will have more space, often more than one bathroom, which is quite helpful, especially if you have children or teens. One bathroom for everyone to get ready in the morning can take a long time and eat away at time you could be spending seeing the sights, relaxing on a beach, or wandering through museums.

The privacy of a bedroom in addition to living space can help when everyone needs a break, being together 24/7 can get on your nerves. Often families are not used to being in such close proximity to each other for extended periods of time and it can get difficult even in the most beautiful or exotic locations. This is also helpful when you have small children that need to go to bed earlier than you want to sit in the dark.

If you rent an apartment, house or condo, you will have a full kitchen, which allows you the option of eating more meals in, especially breakfast, which saves both time and money. You will have drinks and snack available, without paying convenience store or vending machine prices. If you are going hiking or to the beach for the day, packing your lunch and bottled water will save you the hassle of packing up all your stuff, finding a place to eat, then going back, finding a parking place, lugging all your gear back to the beach, finding a spot, again, and then having to do it all over again at the end of the day.

With the time and money you save renting a condo, apartment or house may make your vacation less expensive and more enjoyable for the whole family.

Finding Restaurant Supplies Online for a New Venture

The other day I had an interesting phone call from a friend.  He wanted me to meet him to discuss something.  After plugging in the address into my navigation system, I drove to a new, up and coming area near downtown in our city.  The block was not totally full with businesses and I did notice that there were a few small bars, a coffee shop and other businesses either opening or newly opened on a few of the blocks.  I parked my car and met my friend in a vacant, corner storefront where he told me his new idea.  He wanted to start an organic restaurant in this location.  The block had other options but there was nowhere to grab a healthy meal.  It turns out that he had investors to help him get his business off the ground but he was looking for another partner who had experience in the food and beverage industry.  That person would be me.

After a brief tour, we drove across town to his office to discuss his plan further.  After seeing some of his business plan, I decided that this might just be a great idea.  I told him I would think about it and get back to him.  But before I left, I told him I would help him research where to get good quality restaurant supplies at a good price for his new venture.  That night I was successful and found a great online site that offered great supplies for restaurants at wholesale prices.  We could save even more money because they also provided free shipping.  As I investigated more, I also saw that they had been in business for over 23 years selling restaurant equipment and supplies.  The next day, I told my friend about the company and I also gave him the news that we would be partners in a successful restaurant venture.

Saving money on Food while Travelling

Food is the basic necessity of life. We all need food to live and a big part of our earnings is spent to buy food for living. Whether we are at our homes or travelling we need to arrange food for us and for our kids. It is evident that we cannot live without food and must buy it for us.

If we are staying at homes then our food budget is limited and pre planner but when we have to move out of home to travel our budget usually gets disturbed because we have to spend almost double the amount of what we usually spend in our homes to buy the same food items. There are many helpful ways that we can adapt to avoid spending a lot and to eat better even in low budget while travelling.

Whenever we set out from our home for shopping or to go to a distant place we must keep water bottles and few food items like crisp packets, fruits, snacks etc with us. Usually these items in shopping places are sold at higher rates than in the normal food stores and super markets.

If you are travelling to a far off place and are planning to stay there for a while then the best strategy is to research on internet for all the best food spots in that area. You must compare the prices of different items at the food spots in that specific area and note down the cheapest takeaways or restaurants in a diary to be taken with you. Doing so, you will be able to spend less and within your budget while eating from takeaways or having dinners in the restaurants.

Another good idea to save money on your food and to stay within your budget is to buy a food dehydrator and to use it to preserve your food items like fruits, breads etc and to take it along with you while travelling. This will enable you to use the preserved food and you won’t have to spend money to buy food items that you already have with you.

Using these helpful tips, we can save a lot on food and still can manage to eat well.
